BRIGHT PATH

"Wa-tho-huk"

"Bright Path" is the English translation of Jim Thorpe's Indian name, "Wa-tho-huk."

This is the name adopted by the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame to illustrate our extensive community advocacy programs focused on youth and schoolchildren throughout the state. Through awards, scholarships, education programs and athletic competition, Bright Path provides positive opportunities for Oklahoma's youth to build self-esteem and pride in their achievements and healthy lifestyles.

As an on-going year round program, Bright Path hosts numerous events throughout the Oklahoma City Metro Area surrounding communities. Each event focuses on a different aspect of the core values of Jim Thorpe and the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame: sports, academics, health and fitness.

With the generous support from local businesses and annual donors toward Bright Path, these monetary donations, in turn, support thousands of Oklahoma's youth all across our state.
